{ My American Idols }

Elliotnchris I can’t wait to buy any cd either of these two come out with. These are MY American Idols. I don’t care what the voting says. And personally, I think the voting is a crock. I didn’t successfully dial in even ONCE since the first week. Tried numerous times for different artists depending on that weeks’ performances and NEVER got anything but busy signals.

Tonights finale was completely anti-climactic to me. No emotion even though apparently EVERYONE was voting for Taylor right from the start. Personally I’ve never been a big fan. I mean I actually love his sound and it’s different but my guess is you could find someone like him in almost every town across the country singing in a local bar with his band. And I’d be surprised if we even hear any of his music in the mainstream after the first single he releases. Follow-up songs will be played on adult contemporary radio where, lets face it, the music producers just aren’t gonna pour tons of money into marketing to that crowd cuz they just aren’t the demographic that’s out there downloading tunes on itunes or running to Best Buy to get their favorite artists cd. Yep, my prediction is that once the idol tour is done and his first cd is released he’ll be doing a national tour of your small town casinos. Friday night Air Supply, Saturday Taylor Hicks. I mean does anyone really see this guy selling out arena’s on his own? So maybe it’s just me but tonight’s outcome was kindof a let down. He didn’t even seem choked up at all. I don’t need actual tears but you just won American Idol, something the other 11 semi-finalists would’ve been beside themselves to win and he totally seemed unphased.

It was a good show overall though. Slightly less cheesy than previous 2 hour season finales. Loved the duets. Chris’ performance with LIVE was amazing! Loved Paris’ duet – totally the kind of music she should be singing. Elliot’s was awesome although not the kind of music I think he’ll end up singing – still awesome performance. Mary J. Blige is just a legend. And speaking of legends, Meatloaf – WOW. And I don’t mean that in a good way. But WOW. That was painful. And I can appreciate Meatloaf but he can NOT sing anymore. I’m not sure WHY noone told him. Sad. And then Clay Aiken. Wowie Zowie! What was WITH that hair?! Crazy bad. I will give it to Taylor on the harmonica playing. Very impressive. I thought the guys performance together was far better than the girls. I’d say the guys in general really had this competition. It was fortunate for the girls that they deliberately kept it even with the way they eliminated one of each each week. And call me crazy but I’d buy Bucky’s first album if it was produced well. If Paris did an album of old standards like the Billie Holiday (at least I think that’s who it was) song at her first audition when they asked her to sing a little bit of another song. I would buy an album of her performing that type of stuff in a heartbeat.

So that’s my review of the show. I’ve not posted much about it ‘cuz I felt like I would get hate mail ‘cuz I wasn’t part of the ‘soul patrol’ but there ya have it. I wasn’t a huge Katharine fan either, mostly because I think she had a lot of poor song choices. With the right song her voice was flawless, other times, not so much. But she’s drop dead gorgeous. Like in a ‘way too perfect to even be real’ sort of way.

Kay, I’m re-watching it on tivo and seriously, that Clay Aiken thing – What the heck?! I’m not sure which was more hilarious, his hair or the look-alike guy who I’m pretty sure wet his pants when Clay started singing with him. Classic tv right there. :)

Love your Idol review. I feel just the same….Chris should have won, and will be selling out concerts either on his own or with another band. I can’t complain, since I didn’t even try to vote.

Hey it’s only TV, and the CD sales will be the true measure of talent.
Best part was that goofy Clay Aiken wannabe…the look on his face had me ROFL!!!

I’m still in shock over the Prince showing….

You know I don’t watch American Idol, 24 or any other TV show. Yes, that may make me anti-American, but I can’t stomach current TV. I am a Cheers and Seinfeld type of guy.

BUT, I did hear that Taylor guy sing once. You are right, he’s like Hootie and the Blowfish, just another bar band.

I don’t like Meatloaf. All Meatloaf. Including the kind that comes out of an oven. No meatloaf for me.

Prince is old. It’s almost sad. :(

As for as the other people, I have no idea who they are. I will never know who they are unless they sign with labels that carry Nine Inch Nails, Korn, System of a Down or Rob Zombie. Throw some Xhibit, DR.Dre and Ice Cube (no Eminem since he is played out) in there and you have a world class music selection. I expect to see some of these covers listed on your typelists.

Are you in my thoughts?! :) BINGO on everything you’ve said about Idol. Taylor was never my favorite, neither was Katherine. And how sad am I? I missed Chris’s duet with LIVE?!? OH MAN!! I was cringing at Meatloaf and the whole Clay thing was severely painful…..well, waiting for Chris’s success to take off and next season! LOL :)

I will also be buying an Elliot Yamin CD when they come out….
His voice is awesome, and he’s overcome so much to get where he ended up. Plus I hear from folks who live in Richmond that he’s a very nice guy…

LOL, your Idol review is right on my thoughts. . . .EXACTLY!!! Kind of glad Chris didn’t make it to the final 2 though, could you imagine what cheesy song they would have picked for him, then he’d be tied to making an album of more of that same cheese, this way he can do his own thing.

Too bad he didn’t wait for CBS’ Rock Star, this season it’s to find a lead singer for a new band including Tommy Lee, Jason Newsted (Metallica), and Gilby Clark (Guns-n-Roses). . . . that would have been more his atmosphere!! This show is better than Idol in my opinion, much better songs!!!

I’ll be the first to admit it here. I’m a Taylor fan. I don’t know that I would dub myself as a part of the “soul patrol” but I love his voice and his qwirky style. And when he plays that harmonica, watch out! :) I have to admit that I love Chris too. I will probably buy both of their cd’s. I don’t really see why it has to be one or the other aside from the title of American Idol. Only one can wear that title, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t all sing and won’t have great careers. It seemed to me that all of the guys were really happy for Taylor and he was certainly gracious in praising all of their talent. They each have a different style and apeal to a different audience. I, in general, am a music lover so I listen to just about everything. I’ll buy both Taylor and Chris’s cd. Heck, I’ll probably even buy Eliots.

We will totally have to go to see Chris and/or Elliot if they come into town. :)

This Anna Nalick songs rocks my face off, btw.

    love, me <>

  9. Alright, I don’t watch AI so I have no great comment on that. But I wanted to congratulate you on making the next round. AND I wanted to say that I think I need to see a family tree for your family. LOL! You have so many beautiful nieces and nephews and I can’t keep straight all your family members! ; )
