{ A Wicked Evening }

Wickedlogo8_1 I have a new favorite broadway play. Wicked was absolutely magical. A sortof tragic fairytale full of whimsy. Beautiful costumes, beautiful stage and theatre, beautiful music. I will never watch the Wizard of Oz in the same light. I would go again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend it if your ever in Chicago (or any of the other cities it’s playing in). All three of us loved it and couldn’t stop talking about it after. The Ford Oriental Theatre was gorgeous. I only wished I’d taken my camera but I just figured they wouldn’t allow me to take it in and then I’d be nervous about it the whole time. As it turned out they just don’t allow photography during the play itself but the photos of the theatre itself and the stage would’ve been worth lugging it along. Not to mention that we still haven’t gotten one photo of the three of us together downtown yet. Maybe today.

Other than that we seem to spend most of our time chatting in the hotel room. We did go out for lunch/dinner at the Weber Grill which was excellent. And Jayne, I got pics of Pop’s Champagne but none of us are champagne drinkers so we didn’t go in. Today I think we’re doing a little shopping, probably find someplace fun for lunch, a lot more chatting and a nice steakhouse dinner tonight. Hopefully I’ll get some photos to add to the next post. :)

    I was blown away by Wicked, too. Had heard such good things, but was fairly skeptical going in… blown away. Afterwards, I tried to read the book and just could not get into it. Hopefully (if you decide to try it) you will have more luck than me in that arena :) I probably still have my copy around here somewhere if you are interested :)

    I got to see Wicked on Broadway this past summer and it. is. AWESOME! I’ve heard the Chicago show is as well. The book? Eh, I just could not get into it at all and I had to make myself finish it. I’d been excited about reading it and had bought it months before — but it never clicked for me. Others I know have loved it, though. Several things are different in the musical and after reading The Grimmerie the differences made more sense. I’m glad you enjoyed it! I proudly wear my I :heart: Oz t-shirt now! :)

    I also saw Wicked on Broadway and adored it. Bought the soundtrack and my DH loves it so much that he’s taking me to see it in Denver in June. I am so excited to share it with him…it’s such a great story and the music rocks. Also didn’t care for the book, but it’s always hard for me to read a book where I already know the story.

    I am absolutely dying to see Wicked! Now that we are so close to NYC, it’s one of the top things on my list to do!
